"Silver Thread" is episode 17 of the anime adaptation of Sangatsu No Lion.
Synopsis[]
The Lion King Tournament finally begins. Rei meets Nikaidou in the hotel lobby and explains that his mentor, Shimata, who is being interviewed by a bunch of reporters before his match. Rei admires Nikaidou for being so calm and mature through this big event, as well as him declaring that he is already preparing for the day he enters a title match, shocking Rei. Kouda talks to Rei about the money he's been using to take care of himself as well as Kyouko staying at Rei's apartment. Rei lies about Kyouko staying at his place so his father doesn't worry anymore than he already does.
Rei goes outside to clear his head, and sees Souya outside staring at a pond filled with fish. Before Rei can say anything to him, Takanori arrives and takes Souya back to the hotel for the event. Rei also goes back to the hotel and sees that Souya's match is against Shimada. He also notices that everyone in the hall greatly respects Souya.
After the event, Rei goes outside and runs into Kyouko, who yells at him, thinking that he told thier dad about her staying at his apartment. As Kyouko is telling him about the trouble she's been having with her dad, Momo runs up to Rei and clutches onto his leg. The two other sisters are watching this from a distance, as Momo starts crying and wondering why this woman is being so mean to Rei. Momo runs back to Akari, and the three of them leave after Hina gives Rei some food.
At Rei's house, Kyouko is eating the food that Hina gave Rei, and then proceeds to guilt him into leting her stay the night. She talks to him about how her father doesn't trust her and her distain for Momo. Rei sleeps on the floor as Kyouko sleeps in his bed.
The next day, Rei goes to Shimata's house where Nikaidou and Shigeta are sitting. Nikaidou states that he won his match and will soon be promoted, and Shimata barely managed to stay in his current rank.
