Synopsis[]
Rei is humilaited for under estimating Shimada and letting his grudge against Gotou cloud his judgement. Rei is faced with a complete defeat. He runs home in humiliation. Shimada calls Nikaido to tell him he won, but doubts he split Rei's head open.
Rei finds himself loathing being awake and tries to sleep so he doesn't have to think. Eventually, Rei found himself unable to sleep or keep anything down. He was getting dehydrated. While at the convenience store, he picks up a job listing and looks through it. All available jobs require him to be a highschool graduate.
Rei asks himself if attending school really is not running away, which is the advice he gave Takahashi. Rei thought if he became self-sufficient, that would make him an adult and wouldn't have to cry anymore. Hayashida finds Rei crying on the stairs with the job book and frantically asks what is wrong. Hayashida advises Rei to join Shimada's shogi workshop to learn from him.
