Akari Kawamoto (川本 あかり Kawamoto Akari) is a resident of Sangatsu-chō and the eldest of the Kawamoto sisters who subsequently took care of her two younger sisters after Mr. Kawamoto left and Mrs. Kawamoto died. She encounters Rei Kiriyama and takes him to her place being the first time she's brought a person back home. Finding Rei in a drunk state, Akari brings him into her home to recover, and it is at that point where Akari and the rest of her family are formally acquainted with Rei.

  • Akari's surname Kawamoto means "river, stream" (川) (kawa) and "base, root, origin" (本) (moto).
